Infrastructure Grant Program
NSW Health provided funds for the Infrastructure Grant Program (IGP), for the purpose of improving the quality of the NGO mental health sector in NSW which MHCC administered. Close to $4.4 million was allocated to 64 Organisations across 117 different projects for service improvement. More
Policy Resource Development Project (MHCC Organisation Building Policy Resource)
The MHCC Organisation Builder (MOB) Policy Resource is a web-based resource that includes a User Guide and a repository of more than 200 separate policy and procedure templates, supporting documents and resource links, to promote organisational development. More

Consumer Participation Position Statement
As part of its NGO workforce development strategy, MHCC worked with NSW CAG regarding the
development of a joint position statement on remuneration and support for consumer representatives

Data Management Strategy for Mental Health CMOs (Phase 1)
The aims of the Data Management Strategy, in consultation with the sector, included agreement on a Minimum Data Set (MDS) for NSW NGO mental health programs with data system compatibility and integration with NSW and Commonwealth departments and MDS and RCOM data collection at a statewide level, via one standardised information system. Dual Diagnosis Kit
Although this was completed in the previous year, during 2006-07 project partners MHCC and DoCS
received two awards for this Kit: the Premier's Public Sector Award and a TheMHS Gold Award.
Forensic Consumer Representative Model Development Reference Group
MHCC has long highlighted the need for consumer participation, representation and advocacy on
behalf of forensic patients. Forensic patients have access to official visitors ‘at their request,’ but this

Experiences of Welfare to Work Legislation
The Federal Government’s Welfare to Work legislation came into effect on 1 July 2006. This project looks at its potential adverse effects on people with disabilities, especially those with a mental illness. More
Mapping Project
This project was undertaken to gain a current picture of the mental health sector in NSW, as there has been significant change over the past few years. A literature search and NGO survey provided information about current strengths, gaps and opportunities for improvement in service delivery. More
Mental Illness and Substance Abuse (MISA) Pilot Project Evaluation
In 2005 the Centre for Drugs and Alcohol funded a joint initiative between MHCC and the Network of
Alcohol and Drug Agencies (NADA) aimed at building the capacity of non-government mental health
and non-government drug and alcohol service providers to respond to clients with mental illness and
substance abuse (MISA) issues. More
Mental Illness and Substance Abuse Service (MISA) Reorientation Project
In 2005/06, NSW Health funded a pilot project between NADA and MHCC to develop a training and
agency capacity development initiative by partnering pairs of drug and alcohol
and mental health residential and outreach services to develop interagency skills transfer and the
development of service level agreements regarding people with MHDA problems. More
The NGO Development Strategy: Mental Health
The NGO Development Strategy is an initiative funded by, and run in partnership with, MHDAO. The
Strategy commenced in June 2004, and is scheduled to complete in December 2007. Through this
Strategy, MHCC has been working to build the profile and capacity of NGOs providing mental health
rehabilitation and recovery services. More

NGO Development Strategy Training Needs Analysis
MHCC undertook a detailed Training Needs Analysis investigating the training needs of staff (paid
and voluntary) in NGOs providing services to clients with mental health problems. More
Reframing Responses: Improving Service Provision to Women Survivors of Child Sexual Abuse who experience Mental Health Problems, Stage 1
The Reframing Responses stage 1 research project was completed in early August 2006. More
Reframing Responses - Supporting Women Survivors of Child Abuse: Information Resource Guide and Workbook for Community Managed Organisations.
The Victims of Violent Crime Grant Program has provided funding to produce an Information Resource Guide to provide workers with practical guidelines to assist survivors along their pathway to recovery. The guide also aims to inform and support the many community services in daily contact with adult survivors presenting with complex needs which require referral to other services. More
Routine Consumer Outcome Monitoring (RCOM) Project
This project continues on from the needs identified in the NGO Development Strategy, completed in September 2007. It involves preparing the NGO mental health sector for the use of consumer outcome measures as a means of improving service planning and delivery. More
