Kookaburra Kids supports children aged 8-18 who live with a family member, usually their parent, affected by mental illness. Our purpose is to deliver life-changing outcomes that positively impact their lives. We provide early intervention and mental health education in a fun way through our camp and activity programs. We facilitate unforgettable experiences for children giving them a break from their caring roles and a safe environment to share their experiences with children living in similar circumstances and build a peer support network. We help children learn coping skills and build resilience, to manage their home lives and reduce vulnerability. As they reach school leaving age, we provide support and mentoring to help them into tertiary studies and/or employment. It is our philosophy that all children affected by family members with a mental illness deserve to be supported, to be valued and provided the opportunity to reach their potential.
