PHaMs round 4 Funding has been announced. According to the FaHCsia website on 15/2/10, the new sites in NSW would be

  1. Greater Newcastle
  2. Bankstown, Canada Bay, Ashfield and Leichhardt
  3. Fairfield - Liverpool

The FaHCSIA website advised that $13.8 million would be available over 3 years over the new 10 national sites (3 of which are in NSW).

A press release by the Prime Minister Kevin Rudd on Wednesday 17 February as reported by the ABC online stated that It was an extra $10 million to provide 36 extra PHaMs workers specifically to address the needs of mentally ill people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.

Prime Minister Kevin Rudd says the announcement is part of the Government's practical measures to halve homelessness by 2020.

"In total, 36 additional personal mentors will be on the ground by mid-2010 to provide intensive assistance to homeless Australians with a severe mental illness," he said.

The FaHCSIA website on 15/2/10 indicated that the selection of service providers for the new sites would be through a restricted selection process with identified providers being invited to submit an application to be competitively asssessed against selection criteria.
